We dusted off the older e-shop, completely modernized it and put it on WooCommerce, set up two payment gateways – ČSOB + Stripe including Apple pay, set up warehouse and automatic invoicing. Emails go through the Mailgun API so that they don’t get lost, and we also cache everything so that the website loads quickly.
The challenge was to properly prepare the server for the launch at a specific time, but the fact that ~1,000 people would be refreshing the page at one point surprised us ourselves. Fortunately, we were able to easily increase the VPS resources and we managed the onslaught.
